New Boreham Publishing Announcement!

This is a letter from Michael Dalton that so many of us have been waiting for:

March 2, 2007

Hello!

I’m excited to tell you that F. W. Boreham is back in print. It’s been 12 years since a Boreham book has come off a printing press.

It’s Available
You are receiving this email because you are a friend, a family member and/or you have an interest in the writings of F. W. Boreham. This is just to let you know that Lover of Life: F. W. Boreham’s Tribute to His Mentor by F. W. Boreham is now available for purchase.

Rare Book Resurrected
For the past ten months Geoff Pound and I have been working to bring this rare 1948 book back into print. Originally titled, The Man Who Saved Gandhi, this 44 page book includes the following additions: a beautiful new cover, a foreword by Geoff Pound, a complete listing of all Boreham's books, large print, a table of contents, chapter headings and information on how you can help with this effort. Your support is greatly appreciated and your feedback is welcome.

Great Read
I hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity to become acquainted with an author who makes the practice of religion a beautiful thing. There’s a warm optimism in Boreham’s writings that is genuine and refreshing. He’s also a great storyteller and a master illustrator, and he doesn’t disappoint in Lover of Life. Boreham relates a very personal episode that illustrates a practical but difficult aspect of guidance. It’s one of my favorite Boreham stories.

If at first you don’t enjoy reading Boreham, my advice is to keep reading him until you do. There is much to be gleaned from his writings.

Window on Encouraging Relationship
From his mentor, J. J. Doke, we learn the value of reading and study, and even something as challenging as sharing the gospel with someone that is dying. In this warm and sometimes humorous portrait, Doke emerges as a gentleman, a scholar and a true hero. We also get a rare glimpse of Gandhi who became friends with Doke.

F. W. Boreham Treasury
To find out more about Boreham and to read samples of his writing, please visit The Official F W Boreham Blog Site (http://fwboreham.blogspot.com/) created by Geoff Pound. This is a treasure house of Boreham information.

Future Publications
Geoff Pound and Michael Dalton have formed John Broadbanks Publishing for the purpose of publishing the writings of F. W. Boreham. This is the first of several planned reprints and repackages of Boreham's writings.

Cost and Ordering Details
The cost of the book in U.S. money is $9.00 plus $3.00 for shipping and handling. I can send up to seven copies in the U.S. for no additional postage. I can also ship up to the same amount in a Priority Mail envelope for $4.05.

The cost of the book for those outside the U.S. is the same but location and the method of shipping will determine the shipping cost. Let me know how many books that you want and your location, and I will work with you to determine the best means of shipping at the most affordable rate.

Geoff and I believe that the book cover, designed by my sister Laura Zugzda, is almost worth the cost of the book alone. It provides the color for this posting. I’m sure that you will agree that she did a fantastic job, but the file doesn’t do it justice. It looks even better when you can hold it in your hands.

Ravi Zacharias
We are pleased that our friends at Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM) are also distributing the book. In the United States, you can call toll-free to order at 1-800-448-6766. In Canada, the toll-free number is 1-800-803-3829 (outside the U.S. and Canada, please call 1-770-449-6766). RZIM’s office hours are 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday thru Friday Eastern Standard Time (EST). You can also contact them through their website at (http://www.rzim.org/.)

We thank them for their generous order, and you will help support their ministry when you buy from them. It was through Ravi Zacharias that I first learned of Boreham. Ravi once stated that he tries to read a chapter of Boreham each day.

Payment Possibilities
I can process credit card orders through my homepage at abebooks.com (www.abebooks.com/home/MDALTONEKA). You only have to go through abebooks if you plan on paying by credit card. Otherwise, you can email or mail me your order.

Other acceptable payment methods are money orders, personal check, and PayPal payments to my email address. Checks and money orders should be made out to Mike Dalton and sent to me at: 2163 Fern Street, Eureka, CA 95503.

Great Gift Idea
Lover of Life is a fascinating read and would make a wonderful gift for a family member, friend or ministry leader. Please consider buying it for yourself or someone else.

Feel free to forward this email to anyone that might be interested.

Sincerely,

Mike Dalton

New Book by F W Boreham

Press Release: New Book by F W Boreham

A new publication of the writings of F W Boreham is soon to appear off the printing press.

The book The Man Who Saved Gandhi was written by F W Boreham and published in 1948 but is sadly out of print and difficult to obtain.

In their recently formed partnership, John Broadbanks Publishing, Michael Dalton (USA) and Geoff Pound (UAE) are republishing this book under the new title Lover of Life: F W Boreham’s Tribute to His Mentor. The book comes with a new foreword and epilogue.

The goal is not only to highlight the remarkable story of J J Doke but to provide an illustration of an effective mentoring relationship.

Lover of Life is a tantalizing sketch of Joseph John Doke, a Baptist Minister, artist and author, who was born in 1861 and ministered in England, New Zealand and South Africa. It is the stirring account of a frail man who became a fighter against discriminating legislation and an advocate with Mahatma Gandhi in championing the freedom of Indians in South Africa. As well as serving as pastor of the Johannesburg Baptist church Doke participated in protests, contributed to newspapers and had the distinction of writing the first biography of Mahatma Gandhi. In 1913 he visited Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia) to explore a new development for the South African Baptist Missionary Society and died tragically on his way home.

In a new foreword to this book Geoff Pound says, “Many people today speak about mentoring as if it is a new phenomenon about which contemporary leaders should be engaged. It has been called by different names (supervision, curacy, direction) but the practice has been around forever and was superbly practiced by J J Doke and F W Boreham. Instead of offering a treatise on Effective Mentoring, Boreham in his inimitable way tells stories of how it worked for him and how pivotal such a relationship was in his own life and ministry.”

“It would be good if seminary and denominational leaders put this book into the hands of every seminary student and pastor who are embarking on a new mentoring relationship. This short story about the friendship between J J Doke and Frank and Stella Boreham provides a wealth of insight and a hopeful vision of what a mentoring relationship might become.”

As this is a ‘self-publishing’ activity donations are being sought to assist in the seeding of this venture.
